MAKE A LIST

We do these funny, sometimes silly little quizzes to find out what color our aura is; which animal we relate to; which ancient queen or Viking Warrior we could have been. There are all these lists we have to choose from so some computer program can decide. (Think Quizony!) And there’s much mirth because it’s so far removed from the truth.

Because we know ourselves, don’t we? How old we are, what sex we are, what colors/food/clothes we like. Our strengths, our weaknesses. For fun I made a list of what I thought my qualities were. Good and bad. The latter list was longer than the first. No surprise there. Then, a stroke of providence, an online course, required we ask people close to us, or who know us fairly well in some or other way, to describe us in three words.

That was where it got interesting. Everyone was in agreement with two words but after that it was all over the place. I took myself to Synonym Finder and found a third and acceptable word to cover all the possibilities offered.

I also asked the Captain who gave it some serious thought before replying. His description reminded me once again that Women are from Venus and Men are from Mars. Anyone want to know more about this? Let me know.

Play this game. Make that list of three words on how you see yourself. Good and bad. Now do this with a few friends of both sexes. Ask them to be honest. You’ll be amazed to learn how other people see you. You now have two lists. One, the way you see yourself, a second on how your friends see you.

Final challenge. Make a list of how you think God sees you. And remember He sees everything. Hmm, a little different from how your friends see you? Because you can hide “stuff from them, right?

But here’s the difference. If you turned into a whining, gossiping, miserable individual your friends will not put up with it. You will lose them altogether or they will avoid you as much as possible. Or that other scenario where you find yourself on a slippery slope and they either desert you or can’t help you. Scary.

However, it doesn’t matter how much of a whining, gossiping, miserable individual you become, you are still precious in God’s sight. Oh, He won’t put up with it and you will find yourself reprimanded and corrected but He will not forsake you. As for that slippery slope? You will suddenly find yourself armed with mental snow tires.

Deuteronomy 13:5  “He will not fail you or forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5 “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
