Hurricanes, earthquakes, fires and floods. Threats to annihilate another country.

That would be September 2017.

I was scared of the answer but I had to ask.

“God, are You angry with us?”

The answer was immediate.

“No, I am disappointed.”

I imagine Him looking down on us.

This beautiful, bountiful world He created. With so much love. And with enough for everyone in every way.

Okay. Adam and Eve put a spoke in the wheel. And for years and years God’s people suffered. Prophets came and went. The people would listen for a while, and then go back to doing as they want.

But us?

Jesus Christ suffered and died to put us right with God. And prophets are coming and going. Right now we have Father James Martin raising hell. Don’t know how to put that delicately. Read:

And what have we done but kick God’s gift of His son into the dust.

We are miserable specimens of humanity.  Check out the Seven Deadly sins.

I honestly don’t know how God can stand to look at us.

I take a deep breath and echo Father Richard Rohr. ([email protected].)

“If we are to be truly “pro-life,” we must defend life “from womb to tomb” and stand against all violence, including war, racism, capital punishment, hunger, lack of health care, the destruction of the earth, and all that impoverishes people.”

And that Peace that was promised us?

John 14:27 (KJV)

27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

I don’t see World Peace happening even though I pray for it. And even though I believe it’s possible. But I’m holding on to my personal peace for dear life. It’s mine. He gave it to me.

But in the meantime.

“Are you angry, my Father?”
“No, I’m disappointed that history has taught mankind nothing.”

Michael Jackson – Earth Song

What about sunrise
What about rain
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain…
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine…

Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we’ve shed before
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores?

What have we done to the world
Look what we’ve done
What about all the peace
That you pledge your only son…

What about flowering fields
Is there a time
What about all the dreams
That you said was yours and mine…

Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores

I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don’t know where we are
Although I know we’ve drifted far

Hey, what about yesterday
What about the seas)
The heavens are falling down
I can’t even breathe
What about apathy
I need you

What about nature’s worth
It’s our planet’s womb
What about animals
We’ve turned kingdoms to dust
What about elephants
Have we lost their trust)
What about crying whales

We’re ravaging the seas
What about forest trails
Burnt despite our pleas)
What about the holy land
Torn apart by creed

Where did we go wrong
Someone tell me why
What about babies
What about the days
What about all their joy
What about the man
What about the crying man
What about Abraham
What about death again

Do we give a damn
